May IGF Event – Veterans Month

It’s that time again – Independence Gives First May Donation is focused on our Military and Veterans.

Partnering with the American Legion Post 275 we are asking for donations of USA Flags. These flags will be used throughout the community to educate and replace unserviceable flags in accordance with the U.S. Flag code.  We will accept any size flag, but a typical residence flag is 3X5.  In addition, we challenge all citizens to join “Operation Old Glory – Flying Our Country’s Flag”.  Stop by the American Legion table this Sunday at the Community Appreciation Day to learn more!

Ace Hardware in Independence is offering a 20% discount on all American Flags for the month of May, you just have to mention “Independence Volunteer Corps” to get the discount. Thank you Ace Hardware!  You can drop off at the barrel at the City Building main entrance (box provided) for the ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY.  Let’s show our active military and veterans that you appreciate all that they have done by donating a flag or flying a flag at your home.

In addition to this, we will be posting ways that you can support our Military and Veterans through other programs all month long.  Please check back often and pick an activity to let them know how much we appreciate the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.
